WitnessOps · Early alpha · Case study

One local workspace for release and recovery evidence

A local-first operations product that brings release checks, deployment verification, and PostgreSQL recovery evidence into one CLI and console.

  • Node.js
  • TypeScript
  • Electron
  • SQLite

Challenge

Release and recovery work can be scattered across separate commands, tools, and reports. WitnessOps brings those workflows together while keeping provider checks explicit and operational data local.

Approach

  • Use one local agent with a serial job queue and SQLite run journal to coordinate work and preserve its reports.
  • Share deployment and database verification engines between the CLI and browser console so each surface uses the same checks.
  • Provide a GitHub Action and macOS Electron app alongside the command-line interface.
  • Keep the agent bound to loopback and make release and recovery actions explicit commands.

What the implementation shows

  • The public repository documents deployment verification, PostgreSQL recovery, and release workflows under one `witness` command.
  • Existing DeployWitness configuration and report contracts remain readable through the deployment module.
  • The project is an early alpha; release execution and the desktop app require macOS, while deployment verification and PostgreSQL commands also run on Linux.
